Recommended Duration: 10 days

Itinerary: Calcutta – Darjeeling – Pelling – Gangtok – Kalimpong

Ideal Time to Visit: October – March

In a land where every corner reverberates with stories of resilience and imagination, we embark on a journey that awakens the senses and nurtures the soul. We start in Calcutta, a place where art, literature, and theatre – live and breathe. Our adventure takes us through Darjeeling, synonymous with tea, a haven known for its steep mountain ridge and lush landscapes, before leading us to Pelling, a quiet spot that offers glimpses of the majestic Kanchenjunga. Continuing to Gangtok, the city buzzes with life, infused with the scent of traditional flavours, before culminating in Kalimpong, a serene enclave of Tibetan heritage.

In Calcutta, the city’s contrasts come alive—bustling street life juxtaposed with serene moments at the Howrah Bridge. Here, the warmth of the Bengali spirit envelops visitors in the iconic sweet shops. Darjeeling captivates with its breathtaking views, where sipping tea on a sun-drenched balcony feels like being one with nature. Pelling, with Kanchenjunga as a steadfast companion, offers a moment to absorb life’s vastness. In Gangtok, the colourful MG Road entices with local crafts and stories. As the countdown begins, in Kalimpong, the artistry of Tibetan paintings and the serenity of deodar forests create a space for introspection. This journey isn’t merely a passage through landscapes; it’s a heartfelt exploration of culture and connection that lingers long after you’ve returned home.

Highlights

Darjeeling Tea is famous across the world for its unique taste. A colonial legacy, farms here are huge and hold stories that are locked in the oral narratives. Taste fresh tea and learn about harvesting at farms here.

Visit a community of kumars or “potters” along the banks of Hoogly who hand-craft lavish statues of voluptuous goddesses used for the city’s religious festivals.

The lush deodar forests of Kalimpong are ideal for a birdwatching adventure. Grab your binoculars and take a walk through the forest to discover exotic birds.
